The Rolling Stones Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary With A New Logo – DesignTAXI.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To mark their 50th anniversary<\/strong>, English rock band, The Rolling Stones, has unveiled a new logo, designed by American contemporary designer and illustrator\u00a0<\/span>Shepard Fairey<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>

The Stones\u2019 new logo<\/strong>\u00a0was based on their original, classic tongue and lips trademark designed by\u00a0<\/span>John Pasche<\/a>\u00a0in the 1971, which according to Fairey, is the \u2018essence of rebellion and sexuality that is the allure of all rock \u2018n\u2019 roll.\u00a0<\/span>

In a statement by Fairey<\/strong>, he said that he was overwhelmed by the idea of redesigning the logo when Mick Jagger reached out to him.\u00a0<\/span>

One of the first questions<\/strong>\u00a0he had for Jagger was the inclusion for the \u2018tongue\u2019, which Jagger responded, “yeah I guess it ought to be”.\u00a0<\/span>

His concept<\/strong>\u00a0behind the logo was to highlight the Stones’ legacy and integrate the \u201850\u2019 in a \u2018creative and memorable way\u2019, that not only celebrated their trademark icon but also to commemorate their historical anniversary.\u00a0<\/span>
