Illustrators! Take inspiration from these magnificent 1930s Swedish posters
Warm up your eyeballs, these vintage Swedish posters courtesy of 50 Watts are testament to design brilliance of yore. The exuberant, star-studded images recall a time where “negative space” in graphic design wasn’t really a big deal, and the movie stars of the day were treated like gods rather than circus animals. It’s beautiful, time-withstanding images like these that make you wonder whether novels like The Great Gatsby or films like Casablanca would be half as famous without the iconic designs of the book jacket and poster. Current film and book designers, take note!
