E9 was built in 1907 to provide fire protection for Tacoma’s North End. For many years it served as battalion headquarters. It was the last station in Tacoma to convert from horse-drawn to mechanized equipment. Restored as a restaurant and established as Tacoma’s first craft brewery in 1972. I was tasked with designing labels that had a vintage look reflecting the historic heritage of the building and the extensive collection of antique fire fighting equipment housed inside. These are the first of many to follow.
